Greece 2020. Toyota resisting (-49.7%) in market down 65.5% in May

Greek Cars Market in May 2020 reported just a moderate recovery after April’s stop, despite the country was much less impacted by Covid-19 than other European countries. Indeed, 4.640 units were sold in May (-65.5%), leading Year to Date sales to 27.661 (-46.1%). Indeed, in March the Greek Government introduced stricter regulations, starting from March 10 with national school closures in affected areas, followed by retail closures on March 16 and eventually a national lockdown from March 23.As a result, the Greek car market has plummeted 60.7% in March with 3.743 units sold, ending the Q1 at 21.390 (-18.6%).In April, the car market froze (-79.7%) with 2.433 units sold as strictest restriction measures have been held thought the entire month.Medium Terms Market TrendGreek vehicles market was recovering after the sharp fall reported during the harsh 2008-2010 financial crisis and, since 2012, the car passenger’s segment improved substantially. In 2018, the market grew from 58.480 in 2012 to 103.436, and in 2019 signed the 7th consecutive year of growth.
