Romania best selling cars ranking in August 2020 sees Dacia holding the entire podium, with the Logan at 14.1% followed by the Duster and the Sandero. Impressive performances scored by the Hyundai i20 and the Hyundai Kona.
The Dacia Logan is a small family car or compact MPV (Logan MCV) produced jointly by the French manufacturer Renault and its Romanian subsidiary Dacia since 2004. It is currently in its second generation, launched in 2013 and has been manufactured at Dacia’s automobile plant in Mioveni, Romania, and at Renault’s plants in Morocco, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, Colombia, Iran, India, and South Africa.
It has also been marketed as the Renault Logan, Nissan Aprio, Mahindra Verito, Renault Tondar 90, Lada Largus (the MCV), Nissan NP200 (the pick-up), or Renault Symbol, depending on the existing presence or positioning of the Renault brand.
Indeed, the Dacia Logan dominates in 2020 with 14.1% of share with 10.258 sales (-47.3), ahead of the Sandero with 7.7% market share and 5.575 units (-12.6%) and the Duster with 5.439 units (-30.8%).
In fourth place, the Renault Clio with 2.409 sales (-44.7%), followed by the Skoda Octavia with 1.970 units (-44.4%).
In sixth place, the Renault Megane registered 1.300 sales (-54.4%), followed by the Volkswagen Golf -jumping 7 spots- with 1.293 sales (-24.2%) and the Nissan Qashqai with 1.259 units (-55.2%).
Closing the top 10, the Hyundai i20 landed in 9th place -jumping 9 spots- with 1.152 units (-19.7%) ahead of the Hyundai Kona up 25 spots with 1.143 (+39.2%).
